The Director General of National Information Technology Agency (NITA), administrator of government websites, William Tevi, said new protocols have been instituted to strengthen IT security.
According to him, government has begun an up
grade of protective softwares for its websites to stop hackers from taking them down in future.
It could be recall that early this month, government’s website has been taken over by hackers. Meanwhile the Government of Ghana and the Turkish government have come together to work towards bringing the perpetrators down.
However, William Tevi indicated that the administrator ?will have a team to monitor constantly to make sure that they do not have any vulnerable application software on the system.
According to him, applications would be installed on all data centres and backup systems to detect intrusion quickly.
Interestingly, about eleven government websites hosted by NITA were brought down by a Turkish Hacking Group last week, but NITA revealed that?investigations launched into the operations showed that some of the websites did not have up to date softwares.
