Gunshots were heard in the early morning on Tuesday in Kati, a town near the Malian capital Bamako, stoking fears of an attempted coup in the West African country Mali where panic is beginning to spread to the capital, according to witnesses.
Some residents in Kati reached by Xinhua said gunshots were heard in the early morning at the military camp of this city located less than ten km from the presidential palace of Koulouba.
