Gyan has missed two crucial penalty kicks at major tournament for the four-time African champions.
First, he smashed a last minute kick against the cross-bar in the quarter-final clash against Uruguay which denied Ghana a historic semi-final berth.
At the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations early this year, the Al Ain striker?s spot-kick was saved by Kennedy Mwene in the 1-0 semi-final defeat to eventual winners Zambia.
The 26-year-old suffered abuses especially on social networking sites and decided to take a break.
