He said the Municipality could not depend solely on central government for its facelift.

Mr Kpodo was addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Tanyigbe and National Democratic Congress (NDC) party faithful at Tanyigbe in honour of Mr Koku Anyidoho on his election as the First Deputy General Secretary of the Party.

He said the ?cry of the people is unanimous in the quest for more development in reciprocation for support to the ruling government?, and lamented the lack of purposefulness of the assembly in this direction.

Mr Kpodo said for instance the offices of the Assembly are embarrassing in view of magnificent structures put up by new and smaller assemblies.

Mr Kpodo said concerns of the constituents about the absence of a dual carriage road in the Regional capital, the narrow nature of roads, uncompleted school infrastructure, stalling of work on the Regional Library and Culture Centre and the housing of the Regional Education office in a wooden structure are genuine concerns and called for concerted efforts to address them.

?I am only echoing the cry of our people and I think we can all do something to meet the aspirations of our people for a brighter future and to foster stronger relationships,? he said.

Mr Henry Ametefe, Volta Regional Organiser of NDC said ?central government does not build assemblies,? and ?some things must be done by local government officials?.

?Some of us use two years to build magnificent offices for assemblies why can?t others do the same,? Mr Ametefe who was a former Ketu District Chief Executive, said.

Togbe Kwasi Adiko V, Paramount Chief of Tanyigbe in a speech read on his behalf said it is important that politics brings development to the people and urged Mr Anyidoho to remain focused and work to the satisfaction of the Party and Ghanaians and pledged the support and ?absolute loyalty? of the community.

Mr Divine Ferg Afedo, Ho Central Constituency Chairman of NDC enumerated government?s effort at enhancing the livelihood of the citizenry.

Mr Anyidoho commended the Constituency and the Tanyigbe community for the honour and pledged to work hard and help bring development to the area.
