Former world 100 meters champion Justin Gatlin has said that he is the man to beat ahead of the world championships in Beijing in August and not Usain Bolt. The United State of America’s sprinter holds the world-leading times in both the 100 and 200 meters in 2015.
“Right now, I can’t consider myself the favourite because it’s months away. I’m just trying to stay healthy and strong. But having two worlds leads does put me in a position to say entering a race, I’m the man to go out there and go against, Gatlin said.”
Justin Gatlin is in Rome preparing for the Golden Gala meet on Thursday. The American won the Diamond League 100 meter race in Doha with a time of 9.74 seconds. He also clocked 19.68 seconds in the 200 meters race last weekend at Eugene, Oregon, and these according to him put him in a pole position.
“I’m just starting off where I left off last year. I want to go out there and dominate each race and that’s what I’ve been doing,” he said.
