The company which has been lauded and adjudged the best CSR company for Education and community relations, has seen it as a responsibility to create and build the potentials of pupils.
The project which has been commissioned today, June 2, 2016 is under the company’s School Adoption Programme, under which schools are selected to benefit from Airtel’s CSR and its ongoing ‘Evolve with STEM’ initiative.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Library and ICT Lab, Hannah Agbozo, Legal and Corporate Affairs Director of Airtel Ghana, indicated that the company’s CSR initiative is built on four main areas, Education, Community relations, Health and Building potentials and that supporting the La Wireless Cluster of Schools with a modern ICT laboratory and a library is in itself geared towards achieving three of these areas.
She averred that, Airtel is poised to work with head teachers of various selected schools so as to build potentials of the students into becoming relevant individuals in society.
She also expressed confidence that the facility will be put to good use.
On her part, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of La Dadekotopon, Hon. Rita Odoley Sowah said, it is in the interest of government and the Assembly to make public schools attractive for students by making them meet the status of private schools hence the gesture by Airtel Ghana is in the right direction.
She said, equipping schools with modern facilities including an ICT laboratory will add to the knowledge base of the students and widen their scope in achieving more academically.
She expressed appreciation to Airtel for making the facility possible and charged students to use the facility judiciously so as to inure to their benefit.
She also pledged the assembly’s resolve to ensure security in the school by fencing the entire compound, that way, school properties will be kept safe.
