Independent candidates remembers orphans

Three orphanages in the Sunyani Municipality – Compassion Is Love, Hanukah and Alafia Children’s Homes, have between them received gifts costing a total of about GHȼ15,000.00 in support of the upkeep of the children.

These included bedsheets, curtains, bags of rice, gallons’ of edible oil, fruit drinks, recreational items and undisclosed cash.

They were a donation from the former Ghana Ambassador to Libya and Nigeria, Mr. George Kumi, who is contesting the Sunyani East parliamentary seat as an Independent Candidate.

He said it was his contribution towards efforts at helping to take care of the children.

He invited everybody to assist make things a bit comfortable for the vulnerable, the poor and the socially disadvantaged in the society.

Mr Kumi asked the management of the homes to make sure that the children had access to quality education and offered to pay for the senior high school education of the academically brilliant among them.

The orphanages appealed for clothing, food, footwear, wheel chairs and learning materials.

At Compassion Is Love, the Reverend Mrs. Shallot Osei Kwarteng, its founder, expressed concern about high electricity bills and said that was becoming a major discomfort.

She on behalf of the other beneficiaries thanked Mr. Kumi for the support.
