International non-profit organization PATH on Wednesday decried low health research funding in Kenya.
PATH Advocacy and Policy Manager Pauline Irungu told a health forum in Nairobi that government funding on health research and development is inadequate to meet current needs.
“We therefore urge Kenya to prioritize funding of health research in order to boost the fight against communicable and non-communicable diseases,” Irungu said during a forum on unlocking Kenya’s economic potential through investment in Research and Development of health technologies.
Latest data from the Coalition for Health Research and Development (CHReaD) indicates that in 2016, Kenya government accounted for only 17.5 percent of total Research and Development. Enditem
