Dabit attributes influx to the good weather and the improvement of security

The General Manager of Plateau Radio/Television Corporation, Bulus Dabit, has called on the Federal Government to help the Plateau State Government in its effort to cope with the influx of people into Jos city in recent times.
Speaking in Jos on Sunday, Dabit attributed the influx to the good weather and the improvement in the security situation in Jos.
He commended the state government for executing people-oriented projects and programmes and thus encouraging those who had fled to return to the town.
“The city of Jos, in recent times, has been converted into almost a huge construction site. Wherever you go, you will see that government is working,” Dabit said.
“There are greater efforts towards expanding the infrastructure within the city, in anticipation of its evolution into a mega-city and government is conscious about the movement of people into Jos from every part of the country.
“I wish it were possible for the Federal Government to give intervention fund to the Plateau Government to host this massive movement of people.”
According to him, people were moving into Jos in huge numbers and the kind of resources the Plateau Government gets from the federal allocation were too meagre to cope with the type of expansion that would accommodate the influx.
“However, the government, as you can see, is doing its best to expand the provision of potable water, roads, ensure stable power supply and other social infrastructure,” Dabit said.
The city of Jos has been a flash point for ethno-religious crises in the past few months, with several bomb blasts and gun attacks that have claimed hundreds of lives.
