The strange incident occurred around 10:30am this morning in front of the Alhaji Usman Banda’s mosque as worshipers were trooping in for their afternoon prayer.
Based on eyewitness account, the swarm of bees came from nowhere and started stinging the people around the area. “We were here this morning around 10:30am where I heard peoples running and shouting from the top that bees have invaded this place so I decided to run too for refuge”.
“I later realized that, a swarm of the bees has attacked the woman and she suddenly became helpless. Yes! Close to an hour she was helplessly battling with this killer bees all alone by herself, till we realized she was not moving anymore because nobody could go forward to rescue her” Yes! No one, not even the Giants amongst us. We all stood here and watched her in pain”. An eyewitness explained in a sorrowful mood.
It later took the intervention of two brave men around the area in a protective cloththat came in with the help of an insecticide spray andlured her into a police car to the hospital.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t survive the attacked and was pronounced dead when taken to the Nyaho Medical Hospital at Airport – Accra for treatment.
The deceased is a woman believed to be in her late 60’s and a beggar who often comes near the Mosque every Friday for her daily bread.
The family of the deceased is yet to come on board.
Speaking to a section of the residents in an interview, this is the first time such incident has occurred in the area.
