Jira Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the King of Gonjaland, has lauded iValleyGhana and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for their role in fostering economic growth and supporting youth innovation in the Savannah Region.

The commendation came during a recent courtesy call from iValley Ghana’s delegation, who briefed the Yagbonwura on the rollout of the UNDP’s Young Africa Innovates (YAI) Programme.

The programme aims to empower grassroots innovators, particularly youth, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), to drive the region’s sustainable development and economic growth.

“It gladdens my heart to note that you are committed to supporting the youth of the region, particularly those in Damongo, where iValley is headquartered,” Yagbonwura Soale I said.

He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering community development and empowering young people.

The YAI Programme is designed to identify and nurture innovative projects from individuals aged 18 to 35, focusing on those from underrepresented groups.

iValley Ghana’s Executive Director, Prince Nabil Mahama, highlighted the programme’s potential to create significant positive change and employment opportunities.

“Our efforts include the Agribusiness Accelerator Program, which supports local entrepreneurs in developing sustainable agricultural businesses,” Mahama explained.

He noted that these initiatives are crucial for driving regional development and creating lasting impact.

The visit also included meetings with other key stakeholders and traditional leaders, such as Damongowura Kelley Seidu Boresa I, Kpembewura Babanŋe Ndefosu IV, Wasipewura Mumuni Anyame Kabasagya II, and Hon. Mahama Asei Seini, MP for the Daboya/Mankarigu Constituency.

These engagements ensure the programme aligns with local needs and garners broad community support.

The collaboration between iValley Ghana, local leaders, and UNDP is expected to bring meaningful and sustainable change to the Savannah Region, reinforcing the commitment to empowering the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
