The Northern Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service says calm has returned to Nakpanduri in the Northern Region after four persons lost their lives in the Konkombas and Bimobs clashes.
This followed a meeting between the Bimoba and Konkomba chiefs at Gambaga who have pledged their commitment to ceasefire.
The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Tuffour indicated “The situation has calmed down and it was due to the presence of the security agencies in view of the intensity of the conflict, so everything has subsided.”
He added: “Yesterday [Tuesday] at a meeting headed by the Gambaga District Chief Executive, the Chief of Nakpanduri and the Chief of the Konkombas and other stakeholders we had a fruitful discussion.”
Meanwhile, three persons were killed in another ethnic clash between Ewes and Fantse communities at Akumfi in the Central Region yesterday.
These clashes came at the time when the country is just left with six months to go to the polls to elect the occupant of the Osu-based Castle and legislatures to run the West African country.
