Local giant, Asante Kotoko, have confirmed head coach, Maxwell Konadu, will leave the club after taken charge of two impending assignments.
The ex-international will quit the Kumasi-based side only after supervising the side’s impending Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup in South Africa and the President’s Cup on July 1.
The Ghanaian champions will battle English giant, Manchester United, and South Africa duo Amazulu and Sundowns.
The tournament is being played in honour of one of Africa’s respected leaders of all time.
The ex-All Stars boss will also supervise this year’s President Cup match against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports stadium before he finally parts ways with the club to concentrate fully on the national team duty.
“We will make sure we look for a suitable replacement,” Executive Board Chairman, Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong said.
“Maxwell is humble and hardworking; we wish he stays but it is a national call so we have to sacrifice. We wish him well.”
The club’s Public and Supporter Relations Manager, Listowell Bukarson, also told Accra-based Peace FM: “I have had a lot of discussions with him and from all indication, he will leave us.
“But Kotoko is bigger than anyone and so even if he leaves, we’ll continue to consult him because he has Kotoko blood running through his veins.
“We’re thinking of a new coach who will be part of the team that will fly to South Africa for the tournament.
“We’re very pragmatic and looking into the future.”
