Board Chairman of Global Media Alliance (GMA) Edward Boateng and his team left the Lakeside Marina Park, Ashaley Botwe, yesterday satisfied after a successful 5km fun run.
“It has been an impressive race, and as the theme implies, we have had fun and above all achieved our purpose of bringing people together to promote healthy living by exercising,” were the words of the GMA chief.
He expressed the hope that next year’s event will be an improvement of this year’s.
A special ‘Azonto’ dancing competition spiced the close to five-hour program that drew many runners from the corporate world and the near and far communities. The New Juabeng ‘Jama’ Group from Koforidua was also present to add spice to the event which coincided with Ghana’s 55th Independence Anniversary.
It was 26-year-old Ashaiman-based Maxwell Owusu Inkoom, who finished first in 21:09, while George Ankorah (22.31) and Eric Kwafi (22.37) placed second and third respectively in the main event.
And for their individual brilliance, they received trophies, glittering medals, boxes of Indomie and other souvenirs.
Philapa Peprah picked the fastest CEO female prize, while Sallah Kalmoni, CEO, Lakeside Marina Group picked the men’s prize. Edward Boateng finished as the best third CEO.
Lakeside Estates emerged as the fastest corporate team with Japan Motors and Silver Star Towers trailing in that order.
Edmund Kwame Mensah won the fastest teen, male, while Adomah Boateng reigned supreme in the ladies’ event.
William Steel won the oldest runner award in the men’s category, while Adjoa Silo won the ladies’ oldest runner prize.
Vida Arko grabbed the fastest woman prize, while Ernestina Ibrahim placed second.
This year’s marathon was supported by Japan Motors, Oman Forfor, Silver Star Property, Pippa’s Gym, Nestle Milo, Royal Richester and Digital Innovations.
