Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi believes a local coach is capable of taking over the coaching reigns of the Black Stars.

The Ghana FA is currently in the process of head hunting for a new coach for the Black Stars following the decision to terminate the appointment of Serbian Goran Stevanovic.

There is however a growing perception that the Black Stars job as proved in recent times is the reserve of expatriates but Nyantakyi says that is not the case.

“I think in the past we have not done well in equipping our local coaches so they will be able to assume the position of Black Stars coach,” Nyantakyi said.

“If you look at the generation of the Osam Duodoo’s and Jones Attuquayefio’s, the next generation was the Oti-Akenteng’s but after them there appears to be a massive gap.

“But I think tht is fast changing because Ghana now has a pool of very bright young coaches who through initiatives of the GFA have acquired the requisite expertise.

“So much that even now I believe a local coach can take over the Black Stars.”

Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie was the last ingeniousness coach to manage the Black Stars on a substantive basis in 2002.
