An Aflao Circuit Court has sentenced Wonder Tengey, 22, to eight years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing two cell phones belonging to a Togolese nurse
Tengey was convicted on his own plea by the court presided over by Alhaji Ali Baba Abature.
Prosecuting,, Detective Police Inspector Michael Akemo, told the court that at about 2030 hours on October 15, this year, the complainant, Rachelle Abidoe, a Togolese Nurse arrived at the Aflao Customs Canteen from Accra en-route to Lome.
He said Tengey, an Aflao-based driver, who was lurking around the canteen, quickly snatched the victim’s two cellular phones from her and bolted.
The police said shouts for help by the victim, attracted some young men who pursued Tengey, but he (Tengey) passed the Infinix 4 Pro phone to an accomplice who ran away with.
He said the young men finally arrested Tengey and retrieved a Samsung phone worth GHC550 from him.
