The movie, ‘Married but Living Single’, will premiere at the Silverbird Galleria, Lagos on June 3, 2012.
The movie is inspired by the book with the same title, written by the resident pastor of KICC, Pastor Femi Faseru.
The premiere will kick off with a red carpet session at 5 pm, followed by the screening of the movie by 6 pm.
The movie will be showing at Silverbird Cinemas Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, Genesis Deluxe, Lagos and Ozone Cinemas from 5 June, 2012.
Funke Akindele plays Kate, an Advertising agent with an overbearing boss, played by Joke Silva. She is totally engrossed in her career at the expense of her family, so much that she choses her career over accompanying her husband Patrick (Joseph Benjamin) to India for surgery. Her neglect for the only child of the family is epitomised in the daughter’s love for only the father and even a stranger Titi (Kiki Omeli) who turned out to be her mother’s competitor at work and
husband’s mistress.
The movie, directed by Tunde Olaoye and produced by Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul (KAP), will be screened in cinemas in the UK, South Africa, U.S.A and Nigeria in May 2012.
“The fact is that Nigerians love watching good films. They criticise works with bad locations. But many are not ready to volunteer their facilities. Still, those who may be ready to do so do not understand the intricacies of it. Like the other man – when he saw our equipment – cranes and all that – as well as the multitude, he said, ‘You have come to invade my home,” Kalejaiye said.
The movie, according to him, will add a lot of value to the screen experience of viewers, while also fulfilling his dream for society through entertainment.
Kalejaiye went further, “My decision to return to the fold is based on my belief that the entertainment industry has a major role to play in modelling society. I find joy in building morals. The society needs to be educated on home culture, evils of women battery and career women over-concentrating on accumulation of wealth at the expense of the family. This is a lesson that Akindele (Kate) fails to learn at the right time in the movie. Of course, Silva is the big boss squeezing
time, energy, thought and everything out of her and other workers. So, I am back in the industry to shape society and remind all that the family is the bedrock of society.”
The cast of ‘Married but Living Single’ include Joke Silva, Funke Akindele, Joseph Benjamin, Tina Mba, Femi Brainard and a host of others.
