Ahead of the proposed March 28 general elections, the ambition of the Okigwe zone senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mazi Clement Owunna, to represent the zone at the senate, seems to have encountered serious challenge.

This followed a recent threat from the youths of the area who have vowed to take their own pounds of flesh from the aspiring senator, over the alleged disappointing and shoddy roles he played during his tenure as Pro-Chancellor of the Imo state University, which according to them, culminated to the fake indictment and unfortunate disengagement of some prof BEB Nwoke, Jeff Azubuine, Kingsley Anyanwu, TI Igwe and others, who are indigenes of Okigwe zone.
Mazi Owunna, was reported to have said that he had no regrets over the unfavorable conditions the sacked lecturers went through and alleged that their perceived ?sins? were occasioned by what he called unpardonable acts of corruption and abuse of office.
The youth group known as, the Concerned Okigwe Youths for Transparency and Good Governance, in a statement made available by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chinedu Ekedozie, however, lampooned Mazi Owunna, for presiding over what they described as a kangaroo panel, which according to them, ended up in churning out selective judgment closely targeted at its perceived enemies.
The youths also queried the rationale behind the alleged immediate recall of some other lecturers of Orlu extraction by Owunna, who were also booted out by the institution over the same alleged sundry offences, while tacitly putting up strong support for the Vice Chancellor of the institution of Orlu area, against the Okigwe cadidate.
In the words of Mr. Ekedozie: ?This all-important revelation no doubt, has further given strong credence to the actual paternal status of Mazi Owunna, which has been in the public knowledge recently. This systematic role of ensuring that Okigwe people are abruptly stopped by any means necessary from taking their respective careers and destinies to the zenith had also re-confirmed the ugly mindset and the deep-seated animosity, as well as hatred, Owunna had in stock for Okigwe people?.
?It is however, a public knowledge that whatsoever that is good for the goose is also good for the gander. In the foregoing we ask why Okigwe people should suffer in the hands of someone who claims to be one of their own. By this singular action, we are indeed casting serious doubt over the true paternal status of this politician. In consequence we however, advise that it would be in his utmost interest if he could face the reality squarely and stop being economical with the truth?, he asserted.
The youths further warned the APGA senatorial candidate to, as a matter of urgency, explain to the people of the area, what informed what they called his unpatriotic act of recalling Mr Adiche, the institutions bursar and other lecturers from Orlu zone, against their Okigwe counterparts or be ready to receive ?the greatest shock of his political career during the forthcoming polls?, as according to them, people of the zone would never be on the same political page with persons who are allergic to the overall growth and rapid development of the zone.
