Minibus plunges into ditch, killing five in Ethiopia

Five people were killed when a minibus plunged into a ditch in South Wollo, a zone in Ethiopia’s northern Amhara regional state, a local official said on Wednesday.

Authorities are investigating what caused the incident, which also injured two others, although speeding is thought to be the most likely culprit.

Reports say deadly traffic accidents are fairly common in Ethiopia due to bad roads, a flawed driving license issuance system, and lax enforcement of road safety rules. Enditem
