Obaasima, a Ghanaian ladies club based in South Africa, with support from Moneygram Money Transfer has acquired an obstetric and gynecological bed and 30 pieces of bed linen at an estimated cost of US$8,000 for donation to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.
Since its establishment in February 2008, members of Obassima frequently meet to network, socialise and among other things seek for sponsorship to support various communities in Ghana and projects every year.
In her statement Dr. Ivy Anafi reiterated the South African-based club’s desire to replicate the gesture yearly to improve the lives of their families and friends back at home.
Moneygram, a major Money Transfer company, on their part confirmed their willingness to support life saving projects such as this and many others to better the lives of the very customers who patronise their money transfer product.
Officials of the hospital thanked Obaasima and Moneygram for the kind gesture and used the occasion to appeal for more support from the group and organisations to promote quality and sound health in less privileged areas.
