Hopeson Adorye, Director for Special Duties of the Movement for Change, has warned that merely signing peace pacts will not guarantee a peaceful atmosphere for Ghana’s 2024 elections.
He emphasized that addressing discrepancies in the voters’ register is the key to ensuring peace.
“Signing a peace pact by politicians will not ensure peace.
The only thing that will bring peace during the elections is advising the Electoral Commission (EC) about their actions,” he stated during a phone interview with Okay FM, as reported by MyNewsGh.com.
Adorye urged the EC to consider the concerns raised by various stakeholders to foster a peaceful electoral environment.
His comments come in response to a recent demonstration by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which protested against the EC for allegedly refusing a forensic audit of the voters’ register.
The NDC has cited concerns over illegal vote transfers and other irregularities before the December 7 elections.
Despite the rift between the opposition and the EC, Adorye expressed confidence that change is imminent, urging Ghanaians to support Alan Kyerematen, the founder of the Movement for Change, as the key to the nation’s future.
