Musicians and Dancers Association At War With MUSIGA

It is quiet unclear why MUSIGA has been in some sought of disagreement with MUDAG ever since over 200 members of the union defected to join the Association.? A clear example is telling a vibrant former Brong-Ahafo Regional Organizer of MUSIGA as he tendered in his resignation to join MUDAG that he was dormant and in efficient therefore his leaving MUSIGA was a non-issue worthy of their consideration.

Although we are aware that MUSIGA will lose huge sums of revenue due to loss of membership, who is to blame whereas people have the freedom and right to choose their Association of interest. We have been silent for long and if this arrogance does not stop, then all of us will end up washing our dirty linen in public.

For now it is clear that MUSIGA is not the umbrella body of all musicians in the Country since all the other five Associations, namely, Association of Music Rights Owners, (AMRO) Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG) together with the Veterans Musicians Association of Ghana (VEMAG) Professional Musicians Association of Ghana (PROMAG) Composers and Authors of Music Association of Ghana (CAMAG) and the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Creative Arts (MTCCA) have endorsed the Music Council of Ghana as the apex body of all musicians in Ghana, therefore it is proactive for the Union to be humbled than to be pointing fingers and witch hunting on the personality of our leader? Mr. George William Dickson for their mishaps.

We remember most of the MUSIGA delegates heard of his campaign messages during their 2011 elections in Tamale and voted for most of the current executives in MUSIGA i.e., Debora Freeman Anaman, who sat in Accra for Mr. Dickson to go round the Country from his own coffers to campaign for her to relish what she is enjoying today, as well as Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Oheneba Kisi, and Victor Owusu. When Mr. Dickson was the then Central Regional Chairman, they (MUSIGA) were calling him resourceful, eloquent, lovely, dynamic and hardworking chairman. Was he not the same man who was opening District Branches and organizing workshops, seminars and programs for members across the region? Now, what has turn round to call him names and trying to jeopardize his image?

We believe MUDAG has gone through thick and thin to reach these far and would like to leave no stone unturned and if MUSIGA had not taken its chances from various opportunities and is losing its grounds, they should not blame anyone.

Information reaching us indicates that, MUSIGA is crumpling and therefore the executives are not happy we are all united and that brings about their failure as a union and will do anything in their power to misdirect the vision of MUDAG.

You will recall that not long ago some members of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in the Central region defected from the union accusing the musicians’ body of neglecting them.

The members, who call themselves Concerned Members of MUSIGA in the region, expressed their displeasure at the failure of the national executives to address several challenges facing them.

The concerned members in a statement signed by their Press Secretary, Oti Faaben Kakra and copied Myjoyonline.com Friday, August 2, announced their defection from MUSIGA to the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG) at a time he Mr. Dickson was even out of the country.

After these resignations, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Organizer and Secretary also announced their resignation from MUSIGA to join MUDAG, the national executive of MUSIGA quickly release a statement to the press saying it had not received any formal communication concerning his decision and, therefore, could not adequately react to it.

In MUSIGA’s response, copied Myjoyonline.com, the musicians’ body said Augustus Brenya-Boateng had “not been very functional as an organizer.”

MUSIGA advised Augustus Brenya-Boateng that, “Much as nobody is interested in his resignation,” he should use “proper channels in addressing any concerns” he may have with the Union.

The musicians’ body urged its members to be cautious in the way they handle issues of the union and its members. “addressed.”

What we in MUDAG are asking is that will anybody that leaves MUISGA to MUDAG becomes an undeveloped and is MUSIGA really fighting MUDAG to misdirect its focus in achieving its aims of helping vulnerable rural and unpopular artistes? We want to tell the world that MUSIGA is like a nice tree with weak roots so their propaganda machinery can?t work on MUDAG.

We want to conclude by saying that ?life is too short to waste one single second with someone who doesn?t appreciate and value you? and also ?nobody joins a train that is going no where?.

This is our prayer, Hear us when we members of Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana call, O God of our righteousness: thou hast enlarged us when we were in distress; have mercy upon us, and hear our prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn our glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing?

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when we call unto him.?
