IT?is important the managers of the economy think of taking the nation off as a lower middle income economy and prepare it for investments in agriculture, infrastructure, manufacture and sporting sectors. We believe it is time the country moved from exporting raw commodities to adding value to its products and as such requires the technical know-how and managerial competence to bring that about.
THIS?is because Ghana has an enabling environment for any investment take off, good rate of returns coupled with its peaceful and stable democracy and highly skilled human resource. It is incumbent on our leaders to always think outside the box to ensure an expansion in investment in the energy sector to generate reliable electricity to power industries and also to build sports infrastructure across the country, especially the lesser known sports.
WHAT?government should look for at this critical moment is to strengthen its trade relations and also partnership on a public-private basis to undertake capital intensive projects? In fact, there is no doubt that the world regards our country as one of the most important economies in Africa. This was amply evidenced in a statement made by the Hungarian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Laszlo in his recent visit to?Ghana.
?THERE?are vast opportunities we can offer each other in economics, trade, investment, sports and culture,? the Hungarian Foreign Affairs State Secretary was reported to have said. This brings to the fore the need for the country to explore all its potential avenues to share knowledge and competence.
WE?must therefore endeavour to leverage our trade relationship with all potential investment destination countries ?and by extension spread it to the business community, through viable projects in terms of business services We should make long and short term investments our number priority. The main approach is to identify major initiatives and smaller Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
THIS?will also require skills transfer to help the nation to scale up production so as to be a great competitor in the global market since we should strengthen our manufacturing sector to be more efficient and competitive in the global market. Indeed, Today is optimistic that if the leaders of the country will take this bold step to drive the country on Ghana will be a safe haven for all of us.
WE?are not by these suggestions ruling out other solutions being proffered by some people like the 2012 flag-bearer of the Progressive People?s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom to help resuscitate our ailing economy. In real sense what are saying is government must up to all suggestions and factor them into its plan of working to enhance the living conditions of the citizenry since all hope is not lost in our fight against poor economy. All indications point to the fact that, the nation is poised for economic take off and for that all and sundry should endeavour to lend their support to the economy.
