Demand that the governor take responsibility for the death of Ewemade, who was shot by his security convoy

Adams Oshiomhole's convoy was involved in a shooting which led to the death of a student.

The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has given a seven day ultimatum to the Edo State Government to tender an unreserved apology to the family of late Osazuwa Ewemade.

Ewemade, a second year student of Edo State Institute of Management and Technology (ESITM) was allegedly shot last Thursday by security operatives attached to the governor’s convoy during his re-election campaign tour.

The state commissioner for Information and Orientation, Louis Odion, alleged that the governor?s convoy was attacked at about 6pm by the students of the institution and several official vehicles of the state government were badly damaged with bullets.

“We demand that the governor (Adams Oshiomhole) pay the family of the student a condolence visit, sponsor his burial rites, give him a state burial and erect a statue at the main gate of the institute to immortalise the late student, being the first to die in the school since its establishment,” NANS said.

Morino said the ultimatum became necessary, following the failure of the state government to acknowledge the death of the student. He added that late Ewemade was the co-ordinator of Red Cross Society in the School and was checking on fellow colleagues who were wounded as a result of the shooting by security operatives of the governor?s convoy when he was shot.
