Says all passengers must be properly identified prior to boarding

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), as part of its ongoing efforts to improve safety and security procedures in and around Nigerian airports, has warned airline operators to ensure strict adherence to its regulations concerning proper identification of all passengers prior to boarding.

Security Directive No. 16 in accordance with Part 17, Regulation 83 of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, and Section 13.7 of the Nation Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) list approved means of identification as International Passports, Federal Republic of Nigeria National Identity Card, National Drivers’ Licence and any other verifiable Photo Identity Card.

In a statement signed by Joe Obi, senior adviser on Media to the Minister of Aviation, the ministry said: ?Airlines are therefore reminded that they are under strict obligation to deny boarding to any passenger without a proper Photo ID Card.?

“All passengers are also reminded that no person may use another person’s ticket or boarding pass  to  travel in Nigeria,? the statement read.

“The name on each passenger’s ticket and boarding pass must therefore match the name on his or her photo identity document. This directive, which takes effect from July 7, 2012, is to remain in force until further notice.”
