*At Tema Station
Aspiring presidential candidate of the newly founded Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, last Tuesday became the toast of market women, traders and hawkers who ply their businesses at the Tema Station in Accra.
Dr. Nduom was invited by the leadership of the market women at Tema Station to enlighten them on their basic human rights.
Addressing the traders, Dr. Nduom seized the opportunity to commend Nana Oye-Lithur, a human rights and gender activist, for her good works.
Dr. Nduom went on to urge Nana Oye-Lithur to continue with her work of championing the fundamental human rights of Ghanaians, and urged her not to hesitate to call on his office for assistance.
The PPP man told the market women and hawkers that free compulsory education is a fundamental human right that is enshrined in the constitution, stressing that it is a right that they as citizens of this country must demand of government.
He also proposed that to enforce free education there was the need for the country to have an education police.
The education force, in the estimation of Dr. Nduom, will be tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that parents compulsorily send their wards to school.
