The Enugu zone of the Court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal brought before it by Senator Chris Ngige, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16, 2013 election.

Ngige had asked the appeal court to overturn the verdict of the Anambra State Governorship Election Tribunal that had earlier upheld the election of Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the Anambra governor.

Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba led a panel of five justices in considering the appeal filed by Ngige who sought a ruling setting aside the verdict of the tribunal and a determination that the election had failed to comply with electoral laws.

In rejecting all the grounds of appeal filed by the APC candidate, the appellate court ratified the election that brought Governor Obiano into office.

The verdict marks the final stage of any legal challenge to the election of Willie Obiano.
