Acting Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr. Abdulrahman Sambo, has made case for a review of the cost of medical services in the country. He made the call during a meeting with the Country Director of Management Services for Health (MSH), Mr. Barry Smith and his team in Abuja. Sambo said the need to have standard costing of medical services necessitated the urgency for the review. He said the review of medical services costing should be made uniform and acceptable to all NHIS accredited facilities. In his response, Smith assured NHIS of his organisation’s resolve to develop the definition of what costing of medical services should be in Nigeria by collaborating with the scheme to develop a comprehensive and scientific report on healthcare costing in the country.
