NHIS Preaches Success As It Hits 10

As part of the greatest success of the celebration of the National Health Insurance Scheme has held a lecture in Accra to sparked the commemoration of its 10th Anniversary.?

The Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA Sylvester Mensah said management will dovetail the suggestions into the strategies of the scheme to make it sustainable.

He accepted views covering registration, mobilization of funds and reimbursement to service providers as legitimate.

The chairman for the occasion Professor Frimpong Boateng said for the scheme to succeed Government must provide the necessary funding to support the programme at all times.

This, he said can be achieved if structural charges are effected at the economic level.
In her presentation,the Principal speaker Professor Irene Agyepong Amartefio who spoke on the topic NHIS at 10 where have one come from, what have we learned and where are we going brought to the fore the need for collective action to make the scheme succeed.

She said it is critical for the scheme to strive to become universally accessible.

According to her, universal courage of the scheme forms part of voluntary enrolment.

Professor Amartefio therefore called for innovation and commitment to expand enrolment and increase access to quality healthcare.

Four discussants namely Dr Nii Ayittey Coleman, Hellen Gikunoo a Health Development specialist, Dr Anthony Sedor Country Operations Officer of the WHO and Dr Nicholas Chinebua a Consultant shared their experiences at the lecture.
