Allied Air crashed in Accra

Ten people reportedly died when a Nigerian plane crashed into a bus loaded with passengers on a nearby street near the El-Wak sports stadium in Accra.

The crash happened about about 7.15 p.m.

Sources say it was a cargo plane reportedly belonging to Allied Air.

The badly mangled minibus was beside the plane wreckage, and 10 bodies that were retrieved from the crash lay nearby.

Ghana Aviation Authority officials said that they suspect a brake failure in the plane may have contributed to the crash.

Ambulances, police, military and fire service personnel are scrambling to redirect traffic and secure the plane before it explodes.

More to follow.
