The Busia Institute for Rural and Democratic Development (BIRDD) has announced that the Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, will deliver the keynote address at the 2024 Busia Institute Lecture.
The event is scheduled for July 31, 2024, at the Nicholas Aidoo-Taylor Conference Hall, Takoradi Technical University, Sekondi-Takoradi, Western Region, Ghana.
Themed “Housing the Future: Innovative Solutions for Rural Development in Ghana,” this year’s lecture brings together policymakers, academia, industry stakeholders, and rural community leaders to discuss pioneering housing solutions tailored to Ghana’s rural areas.
In a press release, BIRDD underscored the event’s importance, stating that Oppong Nkrumah’s address will outline the government’s vision and initiatives for rural housing development.
The session is expected to highlight strategic policies to enhance housing infrastructure in rural communities, foster sustainable development, and improve residents’ quality of life.
The program will include a dialogue session after the keynote lecture on collaborative approaches to tackling rural housing challenges. This segment seeks to promote partnerships and facilitate knowledge exchange among various stakeholders.
BIRDD emphasized that the lecture will serve as a platform for sharing knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions in rural development and housing to promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
Additionally, the event will feature an exhibition showcasing practical examples of innovative housing ideas, providing attendees with tangible solutions that can benefit rural communities. A fireside chat will also offer participants an interactive forum to delve deeper into the lecture’s themes.
The Busia Institute Lecture is expected to draw a diverse audience, including government officials, academia, industry leaders, rural community representatives, civil society organizations, media professionals, and development partners.
