Special Prosecutor’s Office (OSP) Director Sammy Darko has questioned the timing and authenticity of a medical report released by former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s legal team.

Darko told Citi News the document appeared designed to influence public perception rather than aid investigations, noting the OSP hadn’t received it officially despite media circulation.

“If you have this and won’t show it to the SP but share it with media—fake afterthought,” Darko stated. The leaked Mayo Clinic letter claims Ofori-Atta requires June 2025 prostate cancer surgery. The document details prior diagnostic procedures and names the treating urologist.

The report surfaced during an ongoing OSP investigation into Ofori-Atta, which recently included efforts to locate him. Darko’s remarks highlight tensions between investigators and the former minister’s lawyers, who maintain their client seeks medical treatment abroad and offered virtual cooperation.

The OSP views the disclosure skeptically as the case proceeds toward a June 18, 2025 court hearing.
