-As Bawumia & Ken Attafuah land Central Varsity top posts
Founder/President of Central University College and General Overseer of International Central Gospel Church, Dr Mensah Otabil, has appointed two prominent figures of the opposition New Patriotic Party to play lead roles in his university.
The two, are twice failed vice presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawuma, and Prof. Ken Agyemang Attafuah, a renowned Criminologist cum lawyer who was a member of the NPP?s legal team that fruitlessly challenged the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama at the Supreme Court.
The until recently controversial Pastor?s university, appointed the NPP?s 2008 and 2012 vice presidential candidate as visiting Professor of Economic Governance to lead ?seminars within the MBA programme at the Central Business School and the department of Economics.?
Under the terms and conditions of his position, he is also expected to supervise theses and dissertations on relevant topics, and apply his mind to crucial economic governance issues at the national and international level.
The petitioners? lawyer Prof Ken Agyemang Attafuah, on the other hand, has been appointed by Dr Otabil?s university as the acting Dean of the newly introduced Central Law School.
Until his new appointment, Prof Ken Attafuah was known largely in Ghana as a Human Rights campaigner and Criminologist until his role as a member and spokesperson of the opposition NPP legal team in the novel election petition which was aimed at denying the ruling National Democratic Congress and President Mahama the presidency gave him away.
As part of Dr Bawumia first assignment at his newly found lecturing job, he has been made a distinguished speaker of the William Ofori-Atta Institute of Integrity, which was established by the university in 2013, to deliver a paper on the theme ?Restoring the Value of the cedi? on March 24 of this month at 4mp on the University?s Miotso campus.
Mr William Ofori- Atta, a member of the famous ?big six? is a highly revered member of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition and was the uncle of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the twice defeated presidential candidate.
The appointment of the two NPP gurus by the Founder and President of the Central University comes on the heels of Dr Otabil?s recent purposeful and unending effusions and innuendos, which analysts say is targeted at the ruling government and President Mahama in particularly, under the guise of sermons.
Recently, the renowned man of God in his bid to slur the President for employing jokes when he addressed the nation through Parliament, chastise Ghanaians as jokers, whiles in subsequent sermons, said managers of the country should find ingenious ways of solving the current economic challenges rather than resorting to prayers.
