Business mogul Joel Nettey?made quite an impression at yesterday?s?sitting of the commission?of inquiry probing Ghana?s poor?participation at the 2014 World?cup, after his meticulous presentation.
The Marketing and Sponsorship?Sub Committee chairman, whose?name had run through almost all the?presentations so far, demonstrated?gross brilliance in his submission,?which earned him admiration and?handshakes after his session.
He admitted that things did not?go the way he and his committee?members expected, but in spite of?the challenging circumstances, they?managed to raise GH?4.5m for the?Brazil 2014 World

Cup.
According to him, despite the?efforts to ?squeeze water out of?stone?, he and his team received no?applause for their tireless efforts;?rather Ghanaians castigated them.
?Our committee managed to?raise GH?4.5m from corporate?Ghana through our sponsorship?drives despite the challenging?times.
?There is too much drama about?the whole thing. It?s unfortunate,?but I think we must look at the positive?sides too. If care is not taken,?the negative reports by some few?media persons will bar corporate?Ghana from supporting sporting?activities,? said Mr. Nettey.
He disagreed with the commission?that his outfit should have ridden?on the back of the Black Stars?brand to rake in more cash and stated
his committee couldn?t have?done that because they did not have?the rights.
The businessman also denied?reports that the telcos had stabbed?his committee in the back. He rather?indicated that the late start of the?drive did not permit them to generate?more revenue though they had?a GH?4m projection.
Moving forward, Mr Nettey, who?considered his assignment as a call to?duty, which he executed for free, suggested?that designated persons?should be assigned to various committees?well ahead of competitions.
He urged the private sector to?also rally behind sports to allow?government to concentrate on other?developmental issues.
