‘PAC is flouting the law’

A member of the ruling NDC legal team, lawyer David Annan, has said he will soon go to court to stop the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) from probing all cases of judgment debt pending in court.

He said the Kan Dapaah-led outfit is probing cases that are before a court of competent jurisdiction and that amounts to contempt.

He said: “The matters the committee wants to go into are presently before court, and therefore it is improper for them to continue in that path, but I can see and I can say they have ignored that and they want to prejudice the cases that we have.”

Meanwhile, the deputy Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Hon. Kweku Agyeman Manu, has questioned Mr. Annan’s assertions.

He said the committee is operating within the confines of the law.

“I don’t know which issue that has been taken up by the accounts committee that has offended him,” he said.

“We are now considering the Construction Pioneer matter. The former Attorney-General has signed settlement agreement that categorically say that all litigation or arbitration disputes will cease at the consummation of this agreement, so I believe that the constitution mandates us to oversee such things,” he argued.
