Wisdom Cudjoe

Wisdom Cudjoe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Prestea/Huni-Valley in the Western Region, has admonished parents in the area who are fond of using their funds to buy alcoholic beverages to desist from the practice.

He called on them to invest such monies in the education of their children.

?The women should also stop purchasing every new cloth that comes to town and use the money to support their children?s education to enable them secure a bright future,? he added.

Hon Cudjoe gave the advice during the presentation of books procured by Golden Star Bogoso/Prestea Limited, a gold mining company in the area, for onward distribution to some basic and second cycle schools, as well as public libraries in the district.

The DCE commended the gold mining company for improving education in the area through the various

scholarship schemes, among others.

?Even though the people might not see the results of your investments in the short term, I believe in the near future the inhabitants will applaud you for helping their children to have access to quality education,? the DCE noted.

Robert Gyamfi, Community Relations Manager of Golden Star, indicated that his outfit was poised to support the education of students in the district.

He was hopeful the books, which cover most subjects, would encourage the students to cultivate the habit of reading to improve their English Language.

He noted that Golden Star would continue to support the development of the communities and appealed to the people to continue to peacefully co-exist with the company.

Peter Blay, Deputy Director of Education in the district, charged the teachers of the beneficiary schools to take good care of the books so that future generation could also benefit from the donation.

He also praised the mining company for its efforts in helping to improve the performance of students in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) by donating some desktop computers and accessories to schools at Dumasi, a farming community in the company?s catchment area and other schools.
