After a difficult year, the Queen of Southern Cuisine is on the rise once again, launching her own Paula Deen Network, tomorrow. In her exclusive interview with Closer, Paula invites the mag inside her home and opens up about her return into the national spotlight and how her family helped her heal following her controversial remarks, which surfaced last summer.
?My time used to be spent 50 percent here and 50 percent traveling. Suddenly, it got to be 100 percent here,? Paula explains exclusively in the new issue of Closer, on newsstands tomorrow, of her abrupt break from the spotlight last year. ?You take your lumps, lick your wounds and move on. I had to see my family every day. As soon as we got up, we saw each other to make sure we were all right and we were going to make it through.?
Now, Paula has a recipe for a remarkable rebound with the launch of her new Paula Deen Network, a digital, interactive, subscription-based service. ?You used to have to sit down at 4 o?clock if you wanted to spend time with me [on TV], but not now. I?ll be there 24/7, whenever you need me!? she tells Closer of the network, which launches tomorrow. Along with food-oriented shows there will be segments like Paula?s Low Country Lounge, and even a Deen family game show. ?That?s my favorite part,? says Paula. ?We found Bobby a sports jacket from the ?80s and he wears a wig and takes on the persona of the host.?
Naturally, the country chef will take to the kitchen, too, but the dishes ? and occasional mishaps ? will be more real than anything that?s come before. ?We have very little editing with this programming,? she the mag. ?The other day, I set off the damn fire alarm. I was burning some chicken and I didn?t even know what it was ? I?d never heard the fire alarm before! But we just kept rolling. Life is not perfect.?
