The campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state led by Chief Chris Ubah has stormed Ihiala and Orumba North/South council areas of the state, with a commitment to run an open door policy and to attract stronger presence of the Federal Government to the senatorial zone when elected.
Ubah who is also the Anambrw South senatorial candidate noted that he has successfully led the party’s campaign train to the North zone, and has done half of the Central zone was now covering up his home’s South senatorial simultaneously due to lack of time.
He stated that he was using his leadership position in the party to go round the state to present and introduce all the candidates in the forthcoming general elections for the electorates to know and identify them clearly and properly for ease of reference and identification during the voting process on Feb 14 polls.
Ubah said that his not going to the senate for the good of the people, their right as citizens of this country.
That he came, “in other to inform my people that it is not a rumor that I am seeking election to go to the senate. It is real. Because if you count above 90% of all the people that went for any seat in the government in the state so far, I am the one who facilitated and made it possible…” He disclosed he would return to all the areas after the election to thank and celebrate victory with them.
Uba admitted that as a thoroughbred politician he knows that grassroots followers and supporters are very important. He said he is the only Senator who makes his telephone numbers a public knowledge for them to access him round the clock as the need arises. That he would also be different as he would not touch a kobo of the people from the Constituency fund meant for development.
He admitted the need to embark on house to house sensitization and urged them to go to collect their Permanent Voters Card(PVC) and to keep them very safe, away from anyone. He also warned them about those who would come with bags of rice, cash, keke napep, motorcycle and other things in order to get your votes.
Describing such move as immoral, he charged them that those people should instead have given account of such things to the electorate publicly.
“Everybody should therefore go and get his or her PVC. So I came here for you to be part of the blessing which God is going to shower on us. Because I want to make sure that all hands are on deck and I will know of your massive support through the success of the election and the number of voters I will get from you. I believe that I’m not contesting this election with anybody because I’m going to suffer and work for you, God has already blessed me from the the womb. I came to make sure that I wiped tears from all your eyes….”, Uba noted.
