The Egyptian team have abandoned the idea of travelling to Ghana on a private jet after Ghanaian aviation authorities denied them a direct landing permit in Kumasi.

Pharaohs coach Bob Bradley had requested to fly his team to Ghana for the 2014 World Cup playoff on October 15 on a private jet to reduce their travelling hours.

This request was granted by the Egyptian FA pending clearance by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

Egypt have now had to alter their travelling plans following a denial by the Ghanaian authorities to issue them with a direct landing permit in Kumasi ? the venue of the match.

The Kumasi Airport as explained by the Ghanaian authorities is not an international airport ? meaning it admits only domestic flights.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authorities also stressed on the fact that the Kumasi Airport is undergoing some structural rehabilitation.

The Egyptian FA have now resolved to travel first to Accra on a commercial flight before connecting to another flight to Kumasi on October 11 ? four clear days to the match at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Pharaohs are determined to beat the Black Stars over two legs to clinch one of the five African qualification slots for next year?s World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana on the other hand are chasing a third straight appearance at the World Cup following progressive stints in Germany and South Africa in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
