The Concern Delegates of Klottey Korle has taken a swipe at Lawyer Philip Addison for his consistent mischief and sly propaganda to destroy his main contender, Nii Noi Nortey chances of leading the consistency in the hotly contested NPP primaries.
The Klottey Korle, which has nine electoral areas and over 850 delegates, is hotly contested by the ?strong three,? but the delegates seem to have many reasons that Nii Noi Nortey is the obvious candidate.
According to the delegates, Philip Addison has consistently, insistently and persistently been scheming for the disqualification of Nii Noi Nortey and with court petitions after several attempts to persuade him [Nii Noi Nortey] to stand down for him Addison.
?Once he has failed in all his mischievous attempts to swindle Nii Noi Nortey of his good political ambitions, he [Philip Addison] will never survive in Klottey Korle,? the delegates intimated.
Speaking to this reporter, some of the delegates were confident Nii Noi Nortey will flaw Nii Adjei and Philip Addison, the main antagonist and emerge victorious after today?s primaries.
The delegates are going to primaries [date yet to be determined] to elect their parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party [NPP].
A delegate, on the condition of anonymity said ?they will teach him [Philip Addison] bitter lessons that politics is not place for people without political clout.?
Below is the full statement by the Concern Delegates of Klottey Korle
We the delegates of Klottey Korle wants to divulge the many sins masterminded by Philip Addison against Nii Noi Nortey in this electioneering season.
Philip Addison first started his parliamentary ambition with a claim that ?Nortey stabbed him in the back?, a claim we did not put any currency on thinking he was only using it to navigate his way into the Klottey Korle politics.
But he has consistently, insistently and persistently been scheming for the disqualification of Nii Noi Nortey after several attempts to persuade him to stand down for him Addison, because they claim he is best fit for the Attorney General?s slot as if without political power one can be made a minister.
It is said ?Give a person a big name and you will end up killing him/her fast? If there is anyone who this aphorism aptly fits in Ghanaian political firmament; such a person is Philip Addison claiming to be an indigene of Osu. No one expects less, especially as he came into the political theatre, a kindergarten who was not even allowed to suck the political breast milk before being enrolled into the school of parliamentary politics.
You might chuckle that all have sinned and so what?s the big deal? But Addison?s sins are unforgiveable. They are mortal sins and no redeeming grace can remedy him. Not his MOBA mate can save him from the embarrassment that awaits him come 27th day June, 2015. He has not only sinned but he is going about it with an annoying brashness that adds salt to injury.
So far, he seems not appreciate the grave sins he has committed against the customs and traditions of the people of Klottey Korle and the consequences of such sins. Even where he understands, he seems not to give a hoot about the feelings of his constituents who have cried themselves hoarse about the many sins of the brash parliamentary aspirant.
He has been known to throw in one or two jabs at his opponent and the President and Chief of Osu Traditional Council and dismissed them as insignificant irritants. In fact, he recently dubbed them irredeemable local champions who have nothing to offer their subjects. It is such swashbuckling moments that incense us the Delegates of the Constituency the more and stiffens our resolve to ensure he does not survive a single victory in his quest to lead Klottey Korle.
Do we blame him? No! Who then should take the blame for foisting on the good people of Klottey Korle a man who never dreamt in his wildest imagination that he would ever be a Polling Station Chairman, but finds himself in a shoe bigger than him? The only men we can point all five fingers on for imposing and forcing down our throats a political cripple on Klottey Korle people is no other person but some leaders and executives of our party who are supposed to be final and neutral arbiters in matters such as this.
It is for those wishes of them that the New Patriotic Party is paying for today, for daring to impose their stooges on electorates, they will be having nightmares daily for ever bringing out Addison to contest Klottey Korle.
Rather than settle down to think of which ways to get some votes, they are busily muddying the reputation of the prospective parliamentary candidate (Nii Noi Nortey).
Are Addison and his surrogates not tired of writing petitions after petitioning the vetting Committee, the Regional Appeal?s Committee and the National Appeal?s Committee?
For how long will they continue the journey on the path of petitions? Is Nii Noi Nortey?s disqualification the sure way to Addison?s victory? And doesn?t Addison know that after Appeal is review as a Lawyer of pink sheet?
Ladies and Gentlemen, what we don?t understand is the machinations to reconstitute a National Appeal?s Committee to relook into a petition adjudicated by same committee.
Our confusion is born out of the fact that, Nii Noi Nortey?s election was amongst the thirty constituencies put on hold by the General Secretary pending the Ayikoi Otto?s Appeals Committee?s report, The committee upon meeting Nii Noi duly cleared him to contest in the parliamentary primaries, then just Tuesday 16/06/15 a call came from the General Secretary?s office inviting Nii Noi Nortey to another National Appeals Committee, isn?t it amazing?
Let Kwabena Agyepong be told, that his MOBA and fraternity mate, Addison has unfriendly and non-grassroots engagement baggage that won’t give the New Patriotic Party advantage over the National Democratic Congress; Philip, has no support of leaders of thought and traditional institutions in the constituency.
Addison is very pompous and arrogant, with perfected mannerisms that easily gives him away as a man who is keen at looking down at people he claimed to be his own people with disdain; several attempts discussed by his campaign managers to integrate him into the communities where he claimed to come from proved futile. He rejected invitations to participate in community cultural and civic events. He felt as though he was better than anyone else, simply because of what he (Addison) does for a living. To him, anyone who is not a lawyer, is inferior and not worthy of his association.
Rather than chase shadows, Addison should be advised to focus on his dilemma of ambition and not allow the shadow of the Delegates of the Constituency to haunt him. Was it false news when he employed miscreants to hurl insults on the custodians of the land on which he seeks to lead?
His daftness must have made him oblivious of the fact that the Delegates of Klottey Korle does not stand by fake and false pretense; we are never enthralled by self-destruction campaigners. We have witnessed political campaigns between political parties in our constituency devoid of personal attacks.
We do not know Addison, and would not vote Addison, should those party leaders and executives decide otherwise. We shall ensure that Addison, for that matter New Patriotic Party sacrifices Klottey Korle seat for Addison?s candidature.
Addison should tell his paymasters that political governance is not courtroom politics which he played in Supreme Court, but a different field where all voices are welcome and if they feel they can silence and drag Nii Noi?s name into the mud, then they should be ready to fight with a multitude which he aptly represent.
Never will Klottey Korle citizens be silenced into cowardice. The era where the crimes of leaders and their promises not kept is over and the earlier Addison realizes it, the best for him.
At this level of political development as to who could win as a Member of Parliament, names, titles and insults do not matter. What matters is to make sure that the individual is the right choice so that the mistake of the past, which led to the selection of none performing self-seeking individuals in the past, does not happen again.
We are by this statement calling on the National Executive Committee as a matter of urgency call Addison to sanitize his campaign by rendering an apology to the delegates of the constituency, Nii Noi Nortey, Chiefs and people of Osu Traditional Area or attract the wrath of our anger.
As Delegates of the Constituency, we shall not sit aloof while Addison and his cohorts denigrate our Member of Parliament in making in pursuance of his selfish political interest.
Let the party leadership be told that, the right to decide who to lead the constituency is the sole privilege of Delegates of the Constituency and should be respected as such.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Nii Noi Nortey is a true indigene, grandson of Nii Nortey Owuo of Kinkawe Owuo Royal Family and down to earth. He is humble, accessible, respectful, helpful and kindhearted. Nortey (former chairman) has not performed badly anyway, as there are visible evidence of his performance all across the constituency.
We Klottey Korle voters want our constituency to be in the mainstream politics, and not to be in the opposition to the central government, which will now be taken over by the New Patriotic Party.
For us, Nii won the admiration of Osu Alata handsomely in his tenure as a Chairman, which was hitherto, difficult for the New Patriotic Party to break into. This is a good pointer to the Parliamentary win for New Patriotic Party.
Much as we know, he is a man who does not believe in dichotomy, but in the strength of togetherness. Klottey Korle people?s belief today is that we have tied the highest ideals around Nii Nortey in the philosophy that we can achieve great things with him.
We wish to express our outmost disappointment in our General Secretary who claimed to be a pioneer of constitutional democracy; for Kwabena Agyapong to issue rules and regulations governing parliamentary primaries-2016, and turning round to circumvent it to satisfy his school mate, for us it is the highest order of dishonesty on his party.
We want to call on our General Secretary and all meaning party members to please look for the fourteen page rules and regulations for the conduct of 2016 parliamentary primaries, and refer to pages twelve (12) and read the guidelines for the vetting appeals process.
We just can?t fathom why Kwabena Agyapong is bent on protecting his school mate at all cost.
Convener,
PRINCE KISSI YEBOAH.
