A 20-year-old head porter at Kantamato Market has been arrested for allegedly stealing the mobile phones and cash of a public toilet operator.

The suspect, Iddrisu Yakubu, popularly known as ?Kaya Nu,? broke into the room of Osuman Mumuni while he was sleeping and made away with two mobile phones and an amount of GH?400.

He later sold the mobile phones to a trader, who was arrested by the Railway Police for buying the stolen items.

The Commander of the Railway Police Station, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Iddrissu Tanko Salifu, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said Osuman informed the police that he woke up at about 4am and realized that his door had been wrecked.

The stolen items, worth GH?800, the commander said, included a Nokia phone worth GH?300, a Samsung Phone valued at GH?100 and cash.

?A week later the complainant said he found his SIM card which was in one of the phones in the custody of the suspect.?

The complainant told the police that he confronted the suspect, who admitted the crime.

A formal complaint was lodged with the Police who arrested the porter.

Upon interrogation, the suspect informed the police that he sold the items to one Daniel Kwame Gyamera, a trader who resides at Laterbiokoshie, a suburb of Accra.

The trader, who was also arrested by the police, has been charged with dishonestly receiving a stolen item while the porter has been charged with unlawful entry and stealing.

However, the suspect has since failed to hand over the other items to the police.

Commander Issifu said the two would soon be put before an Accra Circuit Court.
