The Progressive People?s Party (PPP) said, it has acknowledged receipt of ?a letter from the police service on their intended demonstration. According to the party,?it finds the police decision not to provide them with the needed Police Protection for the planned demonstration scheduled for September 10, 2013, unacceptable.
“You state that you are not able to provide us with protection because of a National Security ban on public demonstrations.?As far as we are concerned the National Security ban constitutes an infringement on our constitutional rights to express ourselves through demonstrations.”
It also stated that the request for them to reschedule the planned demonstration without?offering a?time?frame?constitutes a grave abuse the police’s administrative powers with dire consequences for our corporate?plans, aims and objectives. “To that end, we regret to inform you that we are not able to accept your request for us to reschedule the demonstration.”
“Our?demonstration against corruption will therefore take place as planned. Should you decide to change your mind and cooperate with us we will be happy to welcome your support.”
