The garden city of Port-Harcourt is today wearing a new look, marking the highpoint of a month-long high expectation and preparation for the planned mega rally of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN). The rally put together for, and by the people of the South-South geo-political zone of the country comprising Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers, Cross-Rivers, Delta and Edo states to drum up support for and add voice to the national appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan to accept to seek renewal of his mandate in the forthcoming 2015 general election.
The appeal on President Jonathan, according to the group’s Director of Public Communications and Strategy-Dr Udenta O. Udenta, was based on the firm believer of TAN that he has performed extremely well in his first tenure which is unprecedented in the political history of the nation.
Dr Udenta said in Port-Harcourt yesterday that the acceptance of the quality product his group is selling is receiving overwhelming acceptance from every section of the country.
He pointed out the people of South-South can hardly wait for the day of the rally to demonstrate their love, loyalty and support for their own who he noted has made them proud by his five star governance which has given hope to the hitherto hopeless Nigerians.
A community leader from Akwa-Ibom state Chief Uduak Obom while speaking with newsmen in Port-Harcourt said that his people are already in the garden city so as not to be late for the historic rally
Chief Obom said that the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria’s rally is a unique occasion for his people to say thank you to Dr Jonathan, a great leader who has positively impacted all Nigerians with his transformation agenda. He said the nation has never had it so good under any singular administration.
Comrade Augustine Edgar, a students union activist in the area in his own comment said that the president would get maximum support from the students across the the South-South zone most especially, University of Port-Harcourt where Dr Jonathan was a student and a lecturer before he assumed office as the president of the country where dynamic leadership has become his hallmark.
He declared emphatically that the student?s bodies individually and collectively would give the president all the needed support toward the actualization of the renewal of his mandate. Edgar said emphatically that the students who are in full support of the advocacy efforts of TAN will not accept anything short of having Dr Jonathan for the second term.
The student union activist said that whoever that is interested in the plum job should wait till 2019 when the incumbent must have laid a solid foundation for the socio-economic development of the nation whose major problem has always been bad leadership until Dr Jonathan came to the rescue.
Barr Benchuks Nwosu, TAN’s director of Operations said all arrangements for a successful rally at the Liberation Stadium have been concluded. He pointed out that security, sanitary and medical facilities are always provided at every venue of the group’s rallies to take care of any unexpected situation that might arise.
Eminent politicians, captains of industries, other advocacy groups and other stake holders in the Nigeria project have indicated interest in the Port-Harcourt TAN rally which is expected to be led by notable party leaders, governors, ministers, and citizens including the Mister of Petroleum, Mrs Dieziani Allison-Madueke; Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen; Minister of Niger Delta, Dr Steve Oru; Minister of Tourism, Chuef Edem Duke; and the Minister of Sports, Tommy Danagogo amongst others.
