A stalwart of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Sani has launched a scathing attack on former President Jerry John Rawlings saying he is no more relevant to the party as he used to.
He said the respect the party used to accord Mr Rawlings is no more indicating that it was wrong for him to call on party supporters to shut up after the abysmal performance culminating to its gross defeat in the just ended polls.
Alhaji Sani described the December 7, 2016 defeat as a complete humiliation on the part of the party.
He suggested that aggrieved party supporters should be allowed to ‘pour out their frustrations and cries’ saying this will come to an end within two months time.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Austine Wood, he stated that the party should go back to the drawing board and work on their mistakes rather than shutting people down.
He called on the party leadership to desist from looking down on people.
‘His comment is neither here nor there, if JJ wants to offer any help, he should support the wife’s party National Democratic Party (NDP) to win power. I always object to comments by a section of our party that he is the reason we lost the elections. Did he campaign for us when former President Mahama came into office?. Sometime ago, he was more relevant but he is no more. His relevance to the party doesn’t exist anymore. I am not scared about what am saying. His philosophy is dead now, we are talking about new breed of Ghanaian graduates,’ he pointed out.
The former Ashanti regional Chairman of NDC accused JJ of exhibiting hatred for members of the party and the party as a whole calling on him to purge himself of corruption.
‘Who brought the short man phrase, he should give us a break, he insulted former President J.A Kufuor years ago. He has been ranting about babies with sharp teeth stealing from State coffers and describing people as uncouth. He should bring the balance of the Abacha’s money he received. He should account for this money before he talks about accountability and probity, he should stop attacking people because he is not a saint, he has no right to describe people thieves, I will not buy that idea,’ a livid Sani said.
