Sabimana Iraguha alias Mugisha the Conqueror, who is a commander of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), was being sought for various crimes, especially the 1994 Rwanda genocide and the massacre of civilian population in Bunyakiri village within South Kivu province, eastern DR Congo.

DR Congo Armed Forces (FARDC) accused him of having carried out the massacre on May 14, 2013 during which 32 people were killed in Bunyakiri village, said Captain Guillaume Ndjike Kaiko, head of communication for Sukola II operations.

Following the arrest, FARDC urged all the other rebels who are still in the bush to surrender to the Congolese army or the UN peacekeepers.

Several groups of the FDLR have been operating in eastern DR Congo for over 20 years. They are accused of having committed several killings and assassination of the civilian population. Enditem
