Reduction In Cocoa Produced Due To Bad Weather

The National chairman of the Supreme Council of the Ghana cocobod Alhaji Iddris Alhassan has called on Ghanaians not to blame Dr Steven Opuni, CEO of the Ghana COCOBOD For the current reduction of produce in the cocoa sector.

Speaking to the farmers and cocobod workers in Sefwi wiawso, Alhaji Alhassan lamented the fact that the current reduction in cocoa produce in the country can only be blamed on the bad weather patterns since last year.

And not the government or CEO of cocobod who by his effort has made it possible for the increase in cocoa price to Gh 450.00, supply of free fertilizers to farmers, free seedlings and free mass spraying exercise of which they have adopted a new strategies to make sure that the fertilizers and the other agro chemicals get to the reach of the farmers.

He also noted that there is no government interference in cocobod, And warned politicians and the workers to stop politicizing the cocoa sector.

According to him cocobod has already made payment for the $1.7 billion loan they corrected in 2014/2015, that was why they were able to received the $1.8 billion for the 2015 /2016 cocoa syndicated loan.

The chairman finally added that, the board has no personal interest in the formation of the cocobod Union from the ICU but it will rather be in the best interest of cocobod workers in future.
