Pupils of the Ridge Church School in Accra have been admonished to eschew the habits of selfishness since that will breed the desire of corruption when they find themselves in higher positions in the future.
The call was made by Very Rev Emmanuel Aryee when he delivered a sermon at a harvest service organised by the school to thank God and to show love towards other people.
According to Very Rev Emmanuel Aryee, it is important for every individual to make God the first thing in their lives, by giving Him the praise and honour that is due, recognising His ever loving kindness towards mankind.
“As people, we owe everything we have to God. That is the whole duty of Man. We must also love our neighbours as ourselves,” he preached.
Very Rev Emmanuel Aryee also noted that, God does not created man to be selfish, but to share the little he or she is blessed with, with the poor and those who are lacking, that way He will bless them abundantly, even beyond measure.
The school, used the occasion to share and present gift items to students from the Akropong School of the Blind, Children Department of The Ridge Hospital and the Lighthouse Orphanage.
Speaking to the Headmistress of the Ridge Church School, Mrs. Afua Dake, she revealed that giving out to the needy in society has become part of the school’s social responsibilities, and expressed confidence that the donation will be sustained.
She advised children to develop the habit of giving since in that, lies abundant blessings from the Most High God.
Also, the HFC Bank which associated itself with the kind gesture exhibited by students of the school, donated an unspecified amount of money to support their course.
