Residents of Somanya in the Eastern Region are living in fear after finding two dead bodies without some body parts in the area last Sunday.
The two who have been identified as taxi drivers who ply their trade in the Somanya township.
They were reported missing together with five other taxi drivers about five months ago.
According to the residents of Somanya, they suspect the killings are for ritual purposes due to the mutilated nature in which one of the bodies was found in.
Narrating the incident to Citi News, a resident who only gave his name as Paddy, said: ?I knew one taxi driver personally. He wasn?t seen for a day and the following day, he was discovered in a gutter by people weeding the roadside. His manhood and heart had both been removed from his body so I believe it was for ritual purposes?.
The Chairman of the Somanya Taxi Drivers Union, Moses Azametsi expressed shock over the matter stating that members of the union have been advised to keep watch over each other in the community.
?No stranger can board your vehicle without knowing you so we realized that people who boarded their vehicles are people the drivers found familiar. We are putting together an executive meeting that will assist us in educating the drivers on what to do if someone tries to engage their services,? he explained.
Meanwhile, the youth in the area have declared their intentions of demonstrating against authorities in the area for failing to find the killers.
