Rwanda Investigations Bureau (RIB) on Friday paraded the recently detained Herman Nsengimana and Theobald Mutarambirwa belonging to Rwanda rebel group National Liberation Force (NLF) and PS-Imberakuri respectively.

The duo were captured and arrested last December by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) during the recent crackdown on terror groups operating in Eastern DR Congo and handed over to Rwanda earlier this month, Marie Michelle Umuhoza, RIB spokesperson told reporters shortly after parading the duo at RIB headquarters in Kimihurura, in the Rwandan capital Kigali.

“Nsengimana and Mutarambirwa are accused of several crimes including terrorism, formation of an irregular armed group, genocide denial, and murder,” said Umuhoza.

According to her, the duo are still under investigation and will soon presented to the courts of law.

Until his arrest, Nsengimana was the spokesperson of NLF having replaced Callixte Nsabimana alias Sankara who was also arrested last year and handed over to Rwanda.

However Mutarambirwa was the secretary general of Social Party-Imberakuri (PS-Imberakuri) one of the militia groups operating under ‘P5′, a coalition of rebel groups fighting the Rwandan government.

The P5 coalition operates in South Kivu Province, Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), according to a UN experts’ report released in December last year.

NLF is a military wing of a Rwanda opposition political party, the Rwandan Movement for Democratic Change led by Rwandan dissident Paul Rusesabagina, known for protecting people during 1994’s Rwandan genocide as a manager of Hotel des Mille Collines.

The duo appeared to be in a good health and did not address members of local and international journalists present at the media room. Enditem
