Rwanda’s consumer price index (CPI) , the main gauge of inflation, rose 0.7 percent year on year in February 2015, down from 1.4 percent in the previous month, the government’s statistics body said on Tuesday.
The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda said that local goods increased by 1.1 percent on annual basis and increased by 0. 7 percent on a monthly basis, while prices of the “imported products” decreased by 0.3 percent on annual basis and decreased by 0.2 on a monthly basis.
The prices of the “fresh products” decreased by 2.9 percent between February 2015 and February 2014, the institute said.
The country’s central bank expects the inflation rate to slow by the end of this year on a drop in oil and imported food prices. Enditem
